Because whom you associate with, even nominally, is of importance.

Joshua 23:11-13 (English Standard Version)

English Standard Version (ESV)The Holy Bible, English Standard Version Copyright © 2001 by Crossway Bibles, a division of Good News Publishers.

11(A) Be very careful, therefore, to love the LORD your God. 12For if you turn back and cling to the remnant of these nations remaining among you(B) and make marriages with them, so that you associate with them and they with you, 13know for certain that(C) the LORD your God will no longer drive out these nations before you,(D) but they shall be a snare and a trap for you, a whip on your sides and thorns in your eyes, until you perish from off this good ground that the LORD your God has given you.

Call me old fashioned but it is important who you ally yourself with. I am not saying that all your associations should be of people 100% like minded with yourself. Honestly that would just lead to stagnation and the atrophy of your mind and possibly your social conscience. Sometimes we do need debate to grow and strengthen our own position and thoughts. What is important is that those you associate with are not diametrically opposed to what you know to be true and right. It’s like the old saying goes “you don’t have to go to church to be a Christian, but it sure helps”

This is why it is important to not be associated, especially those who would lead the country, with those who stand or stood for anarchy in the US. Don’t minimize someone’s actions just because they may have happened a few decades ago. Without repentance and a “coming to God experience” you are who you were. Here is a little piece regarding Bill Ayers and the weather underground To my knowledge he has never repented, nor shown and remorse for his actions during the late 1960s to early 1970s.

I am not saying that there is only one way to vote in this election. Please vote what YOUR conscience tells you. I just think that it is important whom you associate with. It speaks on what and who you value. Please research for yourselves how the candidates measure up on the issues that matter to you, your family, and OUR country.

Happy Voting

SIGH.. i may just have to vote for Joe the flippin Plumber

Bob Barr’s (libertarian candidate) site

Obama’s official site

McCain’s official site

After sifting through the spin of these sites just please remember though to keep our eyes focused above not just on the political arena. God is sovereign regardless/despite who gets voted into office this November. He is greater and more powerful than either Obama or McCain! Praise His name. This doesn’t mean that I will shirk my citizen duty, I will be voting my conscience 🙂 Just am thankful that He is more powerful than my vote is!

I agree and get your point, but at the same time, Jesus associated himself with the worst of the worst! A light shines all the brighter in the dark, etc. Thanks for the reminder that God is sovereign…I think we are forgetting that in this crazy, passionate election. Blessings.

And I SO did not choose that amoeba to represent me.

@evenshine you are right that Jesus’ friends could run to the quite sordid, but they did end up seeking the light. If you looked at my group of friends there is a mix of religious, cultural and ethnic backgrounds. my point though is that you need to have at least some support to grow in your faith. That is a personal question for yourself. But it is easier to be dragged down spiritually then dragged up.

As for a politician.. they know better. They know that their backgrounds and associations are going to be scrutinized. For them it is just a matter of good sense to be associated with people who tell people who they are.

tons of blessings to you and your family. hope that you are able to take joy in the process. at least we still have the right to vote.
