tasty tuesday issue 3: bread pudding

March 18, 2008

ok  so it’s not a meal, but itis kid approved 😉  This is a great rainy/snowy day treat to have for your family.  a real comfort food.

Bread and butter pudding. it is wicked easy and very yummy.

8×8 pan

stale white bread torn apart about 6 pieces (or i like to use unflavored bread cubes for stuffing when i am feeling a bit lazy. 1/2 bag

4-6 eggs beaten
vanilla 2 tsp
ginger 1 tsp
nutmeg 1 t
cinnamon 2 t
1 cup sugar
1 cup or more of milk/half an half (depending on how decadent you are feeling)
1 stick butter
(i am guessing on quantity because i kind of just wing it .. it will look nice and gushy before baking… sounds appetizing right..haha)

Mix your spices and sugar
beat eggs and add half of the milk and half of the sugar/spice mix.
fold in the bread crumbs

put in pan and now add the rest of the wet and dry ingrediants on top

chunk up the butter on top

bake at 375 for about 45 minutes

you can serve by itself (warm) or nice and hot with vanilla ice cream.

you can also add raisins.. but i hate raisins (

Mmm, I love bread pudding, but Josh doesn’t, so we don’t have it much. Maybe the boys will like it someday . . .
